About the Houston Grays

"Mentoring and motivating through the game of baseball"

The Houston Grays is a player development baseball program that is focused on building top performing athletes and increasing their overall understanding of the game.

The teams are committed to play at a higher level and build a broad base of skills. Through the leadership and years of experience of our coaches, we are dedicated to developing our athletes on and off the field.

The Coaching Staff

Blaine Johnson, CPT, PES, MMP (AKA) Coach B 

Coach B played at Westbury High School in Houston, TX on Varsity 2002-2005 as the starting 3B/LF/RF. After high school he played in the Pecos Independent Spring League from 2009-2012. Coach B began his youth coaching career in the fall of 2012 with the Houston Bengals where he developed his love for coaching youth baseball. In 2015 he started Protégé Baseball (Athletics) to fulfill his purpose of impacting the youth through the game of baseball and athletics. Coach B was the Head JV Coach at St. Thomas High School from 2019-2022 and is now serving as the hitting coordinator for the entire program. 

Coach Thomas Johnson (AKA) Coach T

Coach T played at Stone Mountain High School in Stone Mountain, GA as the Varsity catcher from 2005-2007. He continued his baseball career at the university level playing at Texas Southern University from 2008-2010. Upon completion of his academic years, Coach T served as the Texas Southern University catching and strength coach from 2010-2012. He currently serves as the Youth Development Coach for Protege Baseball.
